About the influence of neglecting locking effects on the failure behavior at the interface

In the present work, a novel cohesive discontinuous Galerkin (CDG) method is proposed to model interfacial failure of brittle materials. Before failure, an incomplete interior penalty (IIPG) variant (DG) family applied for linear elasticity. Once criterion met, extrinsic zone (CZ) captures behavior interface. Through application DG in combination with reduced integration on boundary terms, locking problem bulk elements solved as well realistic propagation crack obtained. addition, due presence prior remeshing interface during not required CZ model. Delamination composite structure simulated numerical example. Furthermore, performance CDG element formulation comparison conventional intrinsic discussed and conclusions are drawn.
